In Hyper Reality was an intervention staged during the opening of Jurriaan Wesselink’s painting exhibition at Studio Slijper in September 2024. The format was an interview where roles and timelines slipped. Jurriaan played himself, I performed as a future version of me, and Marria embodied a projection of herself that doesn’t exist, while we explained and enacted the concept of hyperreality.

Although presented as a spontaneous art event, it was in fact rehearsed and repeated for a month. The aim was to recreate the blurred lines between simulation, simulacra, the real, and reality itself. By staging alternate versions of ourselves, we tested how identity fractures and multiplies once reality is staged as performance.
